History

Standard Cartage was established in the 1930s as a local trucking company for printers in the Chicago, Illinois area. At that time, printers were mainly located in loft buildings, in and around the Loop of Chicago (Printer’s Row) and contracted with Standard Cartage to move printing machinery. Over time, Standard Cartage gradually started moving larger and larger machinery for the printers. Our specialty was rigging in elevators shafts for printers. Soon, we branched out to other types of machinery moving. In the last twenty years, Standard has completed more and more work for the heating and air conditioning industry and computer equipment segment. We handle some of the most challenging moves which include moving equipment and machinery through small windows, openings in roofs, walls and elevator shafts.

In 2002, we moved from a 13,000sq ft building in Chicago to a 38,000sq. ft. building in a West Suburb of Chicago. We’re now able to offer warehousing services for equipment machinery with the additional space.
